Drumalban,
20 years in conception and a year in the building, was completed in 1999 to the
highest of standards (architects: Andy MacMillan and Tom Robinson). The owners -
Christopher & Jane Grieve - have held
the Scottish Tourist Board 4-star rating since October 2000. The property
is managed by Mrs Kirsty Richardson.
This
page contains a brief description of the house - for more details on any room in
the house, just click on the links throughout the text below.
The
house is spacious (2000 sq ft) and light: white walls are complemented by local
stone and wood. Downstairs, the living area is open plan, incorporating a living
room and dining room
with a galley style kitchen.
There are 4
bedrooms capable of sleeping 8 adults. Two bedrooms are upstairs and two
are downstairs. In addition there are beds for 4 children, a pine cot,
a travel cot, a high chair, a booster seat and a 3-wheel off-road pram.
There
is a large terrace outside
(1000 sq ft) with 2 sturdy wooden picnic benches.
Your rent includes all bedding (except cot) and
towels. 2 bags of firewood are provided at the start of your rent with
additional logs available and charged at cost (currently £3/bag). Electricity
is also charged at cost by means of meter readings.
Telephone money should be left in the jar
provided. As a family house you will have access to the fax machine, full stereo
system, TV, video, separate children’s TV/video (upstairs), a few CDs, 500+
books (including 20 cookbooks), games and our old album collection (which might
provide humour if nothing else!).
Brochures, guides and timetables for tourist
attractions and activities in the area are provided. There are also hot water
bottles and 2 hairdryers. The house has thermostatically controlled central
heating and is fully double glazed.
The
house is non-smoking. We also operate the Scandinavian approach of
leaving outdoor shoes in the porch. Please bring slippers or thick socks for
indoors and wellies or boots for outdoors.
Well
behaved pets may be accepted by prior arrangement and only if their owners
ensure the garden is left "clean".
